چکیده

Repetitive contraction of cultured muscle tubes has been controlled in vitro with periodical electrical stimulation. C2C12 (Mouse myoblast cell line) was cultured with High-glucose Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle’s Medium on a dish to make muscle tubes. Differentiation was induced with horse serum. Repetitive contraction of the tube was generated by electric pulses through electrodes of platinum, and observed with a phase-contrast microscope. The cells were proliferated and differentiated to micro-tubes in six days. The periodical contraction of the tube was observed with the periodical electric pulse between 0.5 Hz and 3 Hz. A Tetanic contraction was occurred with a frequency higher than 5 Hz. Contraction was controlled with lower amplitude and with shorter pulse width of the electric pulse, when the direction of the electric field is parallel to the longitudinal axes of the tube.

Skeletal myotube formation enhanced by electrospun polyurethane carbon nanotube scaffolds

BACKGROUND This study examined the effects of electrically conductive materials made from electrospun single- or multiwalled carbon nanotubes with polyurethane to promote myoblast differentiation into myotubes in the presence and absence of electrical stimulation. METHODS AND RESULTS After electrical stimulation, the number of multinucleated myotubes on the electrospun polyurethane carbon nan...

Spatiotemporally controlled contraction of micropatterned skeletal muscle cells on a hydrogel sheet.

We have developed gel sheet-supported C(2)C(12) myotube micropatterns and combined them with a microelectrode array chip to afford a skeletal muscle cell-based bioassay system. Myotube line patterns cultured on a glass substrate were transferred with 100% efficiency to the surface of fibrin gel sheets. The contractile behavior of each myotube line pattern on the gel was individually controlled ...

Gel Sheet Based Skeletal Muscle Cell Culture System Integrated with the Microelectrode Array Device

We developed the fibrin gel-based C2C12 myotube culture system integrated with the microelectrode array device to afford a physiologically relevant and stable bioassay system. Myotube/fibrin gel culture system was prepared by transferring a myotube monolayer from a glass substrate to a fibrin gel while retaining the original line patterns of myotubes. By attaching the myotube/fibrin gel onto th...

A New Nonlinear Autoregressive Exogenous (NARX)-Based Intra-Spinal Stimulation Approach to Decode Brain Electrical Activity for Restoration of Leg Movement in Spinally-Injured Rabbits

This study aims at investigation of stimulation by using intra-spinal signals decoded from electrocorticography (ECoG) assessments to restore the movements of the leg in an animal model of spinal cord injury (SCI). The present work comprised of three steps. First, ECoG signals and the associated leg joint changes (hip, knee, and ankle) in sedated healthy rabbits were recorded in different trial...

Human Gait Control Using Functional Electrical Stimulation Based on Controlling the Shank Dynamics

Introduction: Efficient gait control using Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is an open research problem. In this research, a new intermittent controller has been designed to control the human shank movement dynamics during gait. Methods: In this approach, first, the three-dimensional phase space was constructed using the human shank movement data recorded from the healthy subjects. Then...
